Phycoerythrin (PE)-conjugated anti-bovine primary antibodies are widely used in fluorescence-based assays for cell analysis. Derived from algal phycobiliproteins, PE provides exceptionally high signal intensity, making it particularly suitable for detecting low-abundance bovine antigens with enhanced sensitivity and resolution.
Fluorophore Properties
PE exhibits strong absorption between 488 and 561 nm and emits bright yellow-orange fluorescence at approximately 578 nm. Its high quantum yield results in superior brightness compared to many synthetic fluorophores. Additionally, its broad excitation spectrum ensures compatibility with standard flow cytometry laser configurations.
Antibody Characteristics
- Typically conjugated with 1–2 PE molecules per antibody for optimal signal intensity.
- Maintains high antigen-binding specificity after conjugation.
- Cross-adsorbed to minimize non-specific binding and background signal.
Main Applications
- Flow cytometry: Identification of bovine immune cell populations.
- Immunofluorescence: Bright and precise tissue staining.
- Compatible with multicolor panels (8–12 fluorophores).
- Detection of intracellular cytokines in stimulated cells.
